A text book of inorganic chemistry. This book is divided in to three parts. Part I: contains a brief sketch of the fundamental principles and theories upon which the science of modem chemistry is built. Part II: consists of the study of the four typical elements, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon, and of their more important compounds. Carbon is the first element in this 14th group of elements. It is one of the most plentily available elements present on our earth. We can find it in combined as well as free states. We usually find it in air, polymers, organic compounds, carbonates etc. It has three isotopes, namely, 12 C, 13 C, and 14 C where 14 C is radioactive.

The Practice of Medicinal Chemistry, Fourth Edition provides a practical and comprehensive overview of the daily issues facing pharmaceutical researchers and chemists. In addition to its thorough treatment of basic medicinal chemistry principles, this updated edition has been revised to provide new and expanded coverage of the latest. Group 13 is the first group to span the dividing line between metals and nonmetals, so its chemistry is more diverse than that of groups 1 and 2, which include only metallic elements. Except for the lightest element (boron), the group 13 elements are all relatively electropositive; that is, they tend to lose electrons in chemical reactions.

The elements in group 13 are also capable of forming stable compounds with the halogens, usually with the formula MX 3 (where M is a boron-group element and X is a halogen.) [15] Fluorine, the first halogen, is able to form stable compounds with every element that has been tested (except neon and helium), [16] and the boron group is no exception.

The last two decades have seen a renaissance in interest in the chemistry of the main group elements. In particular research on the metals of group 13 (aluminium, gallium, indium and thallium) has led to the synthesis and isolation of some very novel and unusual molecules, with implications for organometallic synthesis, new materials development, and with biological, medical.

The present issue of Structure and Bonding is dedicated to applied group 13 chemistry, particularly for the elements boron and aluminum, and to a lesser degree gallium and indium. Thus, boron and aluminum are readily available and their associated products or compounds are usually inexpensive and thereby easy to commercialize.

The main group elements have always been used in this manner. Depending on the use of the elements, the resulting work can be described under any heading of chemistry.

The group 13 elements have been special in this regard due to the very unique characters of the constituent elements. The most important mineral for metallurgy is bauxite, AlO x (OH) x (0. The present issue of Structure and Bonding is dedicated to applied group 13 chemistry, particularly for the elements boron and aluminum, and to a lesser degree gallium and indium.

Although boron is a trace element ( g kg 1) in the earth's crust, it has been concentrated in a few locations by geochemical processes and is relatively easy to.
